As a high school visual arts educator, I encourage students to explore materials, take and develop their own visual language. My classroom practice is grounded in the belief that meaningful art grows from personal experience and connection to place. I bring contemporary artists, cultural perspectives, environmental awareness into the classroom which, helps students see art as part of a larger conversation about community, history, and our relationship with the natural world. My students influence my studio practice as much as my life as a working artist influences my teaching.

A woman is guiding a group of students on a tour inside an art gallery, pointing at colorful, abstract art pieces on the wall.
People gathered outside near a fence and a greenhouse structure, some of them looking down at the ground, with one person bending over and another holding a clipboard. A bucket is on the ground nearby, and artwork or drawings are taped to a wall on the left. The scene takes place on a grassy area with trees and a partly cloudy sky in the background.
